Enjoy Your Day Out

Green Slovenia is Europe's biggest nature & adventure park!

Right now, you probably won't believe the huge choice you have for places to see and things to do here.. just a walk, drive or cycle from the Lodge..

We never get tired of seeing that look of complete shock on some of our guest's faces when they arrive for just a couple of days and truly realise what a massive choice of really amazing stuff there is to do around here!

Some guests arrive knowing about maybe just one famous cave and leave after having 3 or 4 completely different world class cave experiences.. sometimes, when they get to know the choices, they don't even go to that one cave they have heard about!

We are dedicated to at least bringing visitor's attention to the really secret places in Green Slovenia.. where you can get to see the real Green wonders of Slovenia..

In a country exactly the same size as Wales, half the size of Switzerland or 13 times bigger than Greater London.. there are so many different micro climates, geological and geographical differences.. you will be totally amazed how varied your day out can be!

So the choice is yours.. All our guests are unique and some will have specific plans or heads buried in books or smartphones.. this is fine! Some guests will prefer to be accompanied, most will go off exploring alone, some prefer a mix.

Being travellers ourselves and knowing from experience how particularly difficult it can be to find the best places in Green Slovenia, we happily help guests out with logistics, recommendtions, ticket prices, distances, opening times, places to park and eat and with as many OR as few little tips that you want.. the key is to help you make the very best use of your holiday time..

Should You take a Local Guide?

When you add up the cost of petrol, car rental, time lost.. then it really isn't so expensive to take a guide.. AND you will be surprised how cost effective guides can be in Slovenia..

When we travelled around the world for a year.. for us it was quite a simple decision.. if a local guide was available then we would take one.. just the wonderful memories of meeting and spending a bit of time with a local person make it worth it!

A lovely Peruvian guide saved us from an angry dog and repaired our bikes, a New Zealand tour bus driver pointed out yet another beautiful place, paused a little and every time ended with his sentance with "good as wood", an Ozzie bush guide had us singing every night around the camp fire in the outback under the stars and a Guatemalan minibus driver sped up and dodged through a roadblock to save us from robbery!

It is highly unlikely you will be robbed in one of the safest countries in Europe, but the point is.. go chill, chat and explore with a local person if you can.. you will never forget the experience!

We have met a lot of guides all over Slovenia and these people will quite simply light up your holiday. They will walk, cycle or drive with you. They will explain the culture and history of where you are visiting and will tell you all about the flowers, trees or wildlife you are looking at..

And you don't have to be joined at the hip with a guide all day.. have a guided tour for a few hours around a castle, museum, mine or down a special cave for example, go E Biking for another few hours with a local expert.. we just cannot empthasize how friendly and relaxed local people are here and how much more you will see too!

So much stuff is missed when you go out alone. But above all you will get the chance to have a chat and experience the incredibubble warmth and humour of the Slovenian character. (here are just some local guides below and some more in our little gallery).

So welcome to the "Sunny Side of the Alps". . the locals say that when the Lord finished creating the world, he still had just a little bit of everything left .. so he created Green Slovenia!
