DESCRIPTION..

Bike out from the Lodge on quiet roads to reach the village of "Little Nut", Orehek, where you join a remote forest track to climb up and over the main hill between our mini Green Nanos region and Pivka.

Pivka is named after the mainly underground river that brings life to not one, but 17 Disappearing Lakes!

Your mission is to reach the second largest of these lakes and there is a lovely downhill through the forest to reach the Pivka valley.

Despite being only 15 mins away by car, the Pivka mini region is very different to ours, with big open fields and lots of white rocky Karst landscapes with smaller, thicker pine trees inhabiting the numerous sinkholes and open fields that become these 17 lakes.

Off road stone tracks lead to the micro Museum of the 17 Disappearing Lakes, where you can choose to stop and find out all you need to know about the local flora & fauna of this huge Disappearing Lake park..

Follow the marked stone track up from the museum to the Petelinje Lake and explore the lake area.

If you are here in the summer the lake will have almost certainly "disappeared", so you will be able to go into the centre of the 6km square bowl to find the rock sinkholes and experience the eery silence of this green natural theatre.

Return home via a dairy that sells fresh yougurt and cheese and this time by pass the forest hills going through pretty little back street Karst villages to reach Little Nut and a bonus forest section back to the Lodge!

Wow, what a ride and with the distance involved, only really possible with an E Bike for most of us..

THINK ABOUT..

There will be enough juice in the E Bike tank on this ride to push a little further from the Petelinje lake before turning back, so you could explore the Pivka basin a little further.. maybe adding an hour to the ride.. just ask..

You could easily do this ride in reverse if you prefer the solitude of the forest hill on the way back as the far point is the Petelinje Disappearing Lake in the middle of the loop!

Also possible to go via the forest and come back via the forest to skip the villages if you prefer..

Maybe you have just half a day, maybe you want to eat along the way, maybe you have never heard of a Disappearing lake.. it doesn't matter.. ALL you need to know to start with is you can have a REALLY fantastic experience on an E Bike along any one of our Lodge routes and this is exactly why we got the E Bikes in the first place!
