This is a really secret special place.. you have to look hard for the turn off very carefully, but there won't be many people who have visited these springs.. so we will help you find them here..

There is a main road that runs from Cerknica, home of the biggest disappering lake in Europe, via Sodrazica and to Ribnica. And you will find the amazing DogFrog statue.. half dog half frog sitting chilled and relaxed in the centre of that tiddly town of Sodrazica.

The statue commemorates the legend of the village that burnt down and was left in ashes. The neighbouring village sent rescuers and they were scared by the survivors who crawled out of the ashes and looked like crawling dogs.. the legend was born.. so go to Sodrazica, centre de la ville to see the DogFrog!

On the way from Sodrazisca towards Cerknica you will go through an even smaller village called Podklanec and here keep your eyes peeled for a little sign that says Soteska Kadice. Follow the narrow road for a km or two and you come to a little parking space next to a small river with a brown sign and map board completely in Slovene. You are here.

Everything now is in Slovene, so you are on your own, but we have your back.. 

Walk to the house at the end of the road and the dogs will probably charge out and bark at you, hopefully alerting the owner who might come and give them some biscuits so they lose interest in taking a chunk out of your leg.

all you need to get the jitters is a simple sign like this at the start of a trail.. don't worry just talk really loud or make a noise and you will be fine!

The access to the springs is at the back of the garden and after the excitement with the dogs you will be relieved to see the sign for deadly bears as you start the walk and cross the wooden bridge! Oh yes and bring good shoes as you will be tramping through the forest on a narrow trail with long grass.

TO cancel the fear of being eaten by a bear just make a bit of noise and actually this walk is an absolute joy.. you are totally on your own in a green jungle, walking alongside a river, just 10-15 minutes to the end where you will find a waterfall. Bingo!

All along this route you have a magical feeling of being in a really secret place and it is just so quiet with only the sound of running natural water.

the hike is not long, but packed full of forest beauty..

The lovely people who live here do not speak English and try as you might they will not accept any money to say thanks and even if said in broken Slovenian to help with the upkeep of the jungle path.. so smile, say hvala (ta very much) and go back to your car!
